FAQ

How do I get started?

You can schedule an appointment through our website by visiting the Contact page, or by reaching out by phone or email to inquire about availability.

Once your appointment is confirmed, you will receive a confirmation email and/or phone call from our office.

You will then receive a link to your client portal, where you’ll complete the necessary paperwork before your first session. The forms should take no more than 5–7 minutes to complete.

Once your forms are complete, you’re all set for your first session!

What can I expect the first session?

Starting therapy can feel intimidating, especially if you’re not sure what to expect. You don’t need to have everything figured out or know exactly what to say. We’ll start by getting to know you, understanding what brought you to therapy, and identifying what you hope to get out of our work together.

What are your fees?

The standard fee for a 50-minute individual therapy session is $120, and the fee for a 90-minute extended session is $200.

As a private-pay practice, we are committed to providing accessible, high-quality care at rates that remain competitive with other private-practice therapists in the area, while reflecting the level of training, experience, and specialized care provided.

How do I pay for sessions?

You can pay via cash, check, any major credit card, FSA card or HSA card at the time of service.

Do you take insurance?

I am a private-pay therapist and do not bill insurance directly. Choosing private-pay therapy allows for greater flexibility and personalization in your care, without having to meet the requirements of an insurance company.

Some benefits of private-pay therapy include:

  • No diagnosis required. You can seek therapy for a wide range of concerns, including life transitions, relationship challenges, stress, grief, personal growth, and more, without needing a mental health diagnosis for insurance reimbursement.
  • Greater privacy. When insurance is not involved in your care, you have greater control over who receives information about your treatment and why you are seeking therapy.
  • Individualized treatment. Your goals, treatment approach, frequency of sessions, and length of therapy can be determined based on your individual needs rather than insurance requirements.
  • More flexibility. Private-pay therapy allows for greater flexibility in session frequency and length, including the option for extended 90-minute sessions for EMDR and/or when clinically appropriate.
  • Freedom to choose your therapist. You are not limited to therapists who participate with your insurance plan and can choose a provider based on their specialties, approach, and the type of support you are looking for.
What if I need to cancel?

We completely understand that things change, life happens, and unexpected emergencies come up. If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please contact us by phone or email at least 24 hours before your scheduled appointment time.

Appointments canceled or rescheduled with less than 24 hours’ notice will incur a late cancellation charge of 50% of the session fee.

If you miss an appointment without providing any notice, a no-show charge of 100% of the scheduled session fee will apply.

Is there parking?

Yes! Our office has a dedicated parking lot located directly next to the building on East Parent Avenue. You may notice a small “Permit Parking Only” sign, but Royal Oak Hope Counseling L.L.C. and our clients are authorized to use the lot during appointments.
